A quick look at the Felt B12

By Angela Walters

Felt, makers of the world's fastest time trial and track bikes, have recently released the Felt B12, an addition to the TT/TRI series that are made with time trials and triathlons in mind. That should give you some idea about what the B12 is all about - achieving the fastest time possible on the road. The Felt B12 manages this because every tiny part of the bike has been designed to eliminate any possibility of drag.

Anyone in the market for a road bike knows that one thing matters above all else, and that is speed. Felt knows this as well, and also knows how to making speedy bikes, having created the fastest time trial and track bikes known to man. They make incredibly fast bikes by refusing to compromise - that's why bikes like the B12 undergo rigorous wind tunnel testing and benefit from Computational Fluid Dynamic software.

Another feature of the Felt B12 that again goes to show that no part of the bike is overlooked is the use of internal cable routing. By placing cables within the frame the possibility of wind drag is eliminated and contaminants cannot hinder the brake or shifter cables. As well as these practical functions, internal cable routing also gives the bike a sleek and professional look.

The B12 frame ranges in size from 48cm-60cm, but whichever bike you choose you can be assured that the weight will be minimal (the 56cm frame weighs 8.82kg) making it much quicker on the road. The frame manages to be so light yet solid because it is made from a unique carbon fibre blend. Felt is obviously proud of the frame as it also sells it separately.

The Felt B12 is a strange bike. It performs like a bike that costs double or triple its price thanks to the features that Felt have managed to include, yet it only costs around 2,700. If you're looking for the bike that will help you break a personal record, the Felt B12 could be just the one to do it.
