Most of the World's Problems Solved by a Bicycle

By Nia Lawrence

Although cars remain the main mode of transportation in this century, a lot more people are now bringing out their single speed bikes on the road for various reasons. Some do it for the purpose of becoming more fit. A lot of people are currently being diagnosed with so many conditions that are weight-related, so doctors are now encouraging the world to adopt a healthier lifestyle through more active physical exercise. Other people do it as a response to the climate changes currently becoming an issue in our world today. Such climate changes are direct results of fossil fuel consumption and subsequent carbon emissions, so we are being encouraged to minimize our gasoline needs, among others. If you are a previous non-cyclist and you are compelled to be a part of either of these ongoing trends, the first active step you would have to make is to get your own 3 speed bike.

The comeback of the bicycle has not just been brought about by the exasperation of most people regarding the worsening traffic conditions. People are being encouraged to become fitter, as more and more people are being diagnosed with weight-related conditions like obesity, diabetes, and hypertension. With the increased awareness of how obesity can lead to poor health, people are starting to look at new and fun ways to keep healthy. Aside from cycling, people are also turning to running, swimming, and yoga. The advantage of going for cycling using single speed bikes is that aside from getting the needed exercise, you also get to do other stuff like buy your groceries. At the same time, you can even choose your own scenic route if the one you frequent becomes boring. Traffic restrictions on cyclists are not as rigid as motor vehicles.

Choosing between single speed bikes and those with multiple gears is often the main dilemma that potential cyclists have to face. These are the two most common single-seater bikes that are currently being sold in bike specialty shops. Since they serve different purposes, you will have to ask yourself what your current need is. The need of the moment must be answered first, so make sure you end up with the bike that answers to that need. If you are still struggling with your cycling ability, you may be better off with a single-speed version as there are fewer things to worry about. All you have to do is just concentrate on how to maneuver the bike and how to get used to the act of cycling.

Finally, the worldwide concern for a critically depressed economy has led people to let their cars sit in their garages for a while. The gas prices have risen too much for most household budgets, and a lot of people can no longer afford to run their cars on a regular basis. The bike is the new way to go around now, and is the preferred choice as well for the health benefits cycling can offer. Some people cycle short distances only, while others have decided to go all the way and are now commuting exclusively using their single speed bikes.

When it comes to buying this kind of transportation, it is important that you end up with a choice that you are most comfortable with. Make sure to read up on the various bicycle styles available so that making a choice will not be that difficult a task.
