Don't Be Part of the Obesity Statistic

By Chris Benini

Obesity is becoming a large part in America, in more ways than one. Exercise is a great way of avoiding obesity. When it comes to daily exercise, there are more than enough excuses. "I don't have time" or "I can't afford a gym" are just a couple of them. There are other ways to incorporate exercise in your daily lifestyle other than a gym. You can go for a walk before or after work. Use a commuter bike to get around rather than a car.

The epidemic of obesity continues to grow. A staggering 35 percent of adults in the U.S. Are considered obese. However, there is more. 34 percent of adults are considered overweight but not obese. That means that two out of every three American adults are overweight or obese. To think that 67 percent of Americans are at higher risk for deadly diseases such as Type-2 Diabetes or Heart disease is scary.

Exercise is important in fighting the epidemic of obesity. Your daily lifestyle should include exercise. Sedentary lifestyle is a big reason that obesity is part of the problem. The majority of Americans sit all day. Whether it is in the car, at work, at lunch or watching television, they are always sitting and never moving around. Not only is working out at a gym or fitness center important but moving around throughout the day is crucial as well. Using a commuter bike is a great way to ensure you are active throughout the day.

In this day and age exercise is a requirement for living a healthy lifestyle. Before these technological advancements people would get their exercise from every day necessary work. Newer technological advancements have made every day activities that required exercise obsolete. People had to walk or used commuter bike before we had cars. There were push lawnmowers before ride-mowers. The growth of fast food is also a large reason for the growth of America's waistline.

Obesity is an epidemic that is being taken too lightly in the United States. The fact that it is linked to diseases that can kill you should be enough of a warning. Daily exercise and nutrition are keys to avoiding the epidemic. Take and action and don't be part of the obesity epidemic that is killing off America.
