Why Do You Need A Mountainbiking Light?

By Sophia Surk

First let's clear this - by mountain biking I mean riding trails, singletracks at night. Not riding your bike home from work through the streets. Of course should you ride your bike at night, driving through the streets of one's home town, you will need a light a minimum of to be seen by the automobiles passing you by. This is usual stuff, absolutely nothing strange here.

But in the last years with the improvement of lights (LED lights) which are receiving more and more powerful and energy efficient and with the improvement of better batteries which will power these lights individuals have started to make use of lights for night mountainbiking.

But why would you desire to do that? Why would you wish to ride down a trail at night? Well, ordinarily you wouldn't. In case you have adequate time on your hands you can obviously go and ride your bike through the day when visibility is finest. But there are many moments and factors why would you ride your mountainbike at night:

When you work most of the day and when the days are brief it'll most likely be dark when you get home and also have a chance to begin considering jumping on your bike and making a run on your local trail. But with a bike light - no problem.

Or maybe you've got a family and just before kids go to bed and you do all your chores it really is already dark.

Then there are actually crowds. Some trails are full of people walking, picking up blueberries, having fun with their dogs..whatever. It truly is risky and irresponsible to ride on these trails throughout the day. But when it gets dark all these individuals go home and you've that trail all for yourself.

Occasionally the weather just gets too hot. It is possible to take a good amount of water and sweat your way to the top of the hill or you could wait and go at night when the temperatures are more acceptable.

To me it takes place all the time - we go riding a new trail that nobody knows far into the mountains and we get lost. It takes place so typically that we even have our personal trademark saying: "Get lost with us!". So you prepare your trip, it need to take 4-5 hours, you give yourself an extra hour of time prior to dark and then you get lost. And before you get back to your car it is already dark. But fortunately you're packing a bike light and you don't need to worry.

And finally - it's entertaining since it's different. The trail looks different, the forest looks different...try it.

That's it. Try it, you might like it :)!
